When we visited the restaurants featured in the Lake Chelan Cookbook we asked for two recipes that they would like to share with us. We also asked for recipes from local people and modified recipes found in old Lake Chelan Cookbooks. We gave credit to all of the original authors.
The majority of the photos we took ourselves but in some cases photos were submitted by restaurants and community members.
Chelan is a unique agricultural region and tourist destination with a diverse culinary community. There is no other general Lake Chelan Cookbook on the market today. Many tourists and locals have expressed an interest in a cookbook that highlights the valley’s particular food experiences. Our goal was to give readers a deeper understanding of the food community here in the valley and how to make some of this wonderful food at home.
Our seventh and eighth grade classes have been working on the Lake Chelan Cookbook since the winter and spring quarters of 2023 and 2024. During this time we have gone to many restaurants for interviews and pictures.
